ALL — Applied Leadership Learning

A Highly Flexible Developmental & Coaching Program
Offered by WBW & Associates, LLC

ALL is a series of interrelated modules designed for executives, managers, and team leaders who have limited time to spend in a classroom setting, but who demand great value for their limited time. The program builds your leadership and collaboration skills, supporting you to become a powerful leader both within your organization and in your daily life. The program focuses on the application of new skills back on the job, and employs seasoned leadership coaches to help you plan and move forward to achieve specific goals. The time spent in a classroom setting is typically no more than three hours. Coaching is scheduled at your convenience.

The program provides you with targeted key developmental experiences. These key experiences enable you to shift your perception of yourself and those around you. With this shift in perspective, you can change your behaviors, transform the way you lead others, and achieve those skills essential for you to become highly successful in your position. Developmental experiences include ongoing feedback, diagnostic assessment and work with a professional coach.

Here are the underpinnings of the acronym ALL:

Applied

We are dedicated to helping you apply what you have learned, in order to more effectively interact with others on the job and in other aspects of your life. This is in fact the real strength of ALL. It focuses on real-time change. We assist in planning and de-briefing specific meetings, important projects, work priorities, and real conversations. Our coaching highlights what works and what does not work as you apply new strategies. We assist you in understanding the reactions of others, the consequences of those reactions and how to make adjustments in behavior for better future results.

Whenever possible, we observe you in your work setting and in group meetings, and we provide you with specific feedback during the events or soon after they have ended. We help you to plan ways to obtain valuable feedback from others whose opinions you value and whose support is critical to the achievement of specific job responsibilities.

We help you to realize how you are exhibiting specific behaviors that influence others, and the relationships that are created. This allows us to make course (learning path) corrections together, as needed, re-applying what has been learned and moving forward step-by-step to achieve goals.

The embodiment of leadership comes with the practice, the application, and the repeated changes that take place in your mind and in your heart. This transformation takes time, support, feedback, encouragement —and sometimes mistakes—that lead to greater awareness and more powerful choices, leading to mastery.

Leadership

True Leadership is the powerful expression of who you are through how you communicate and interact with others at work and in all aspects of your daily life. This includes developing collaborative relationships, inspiring others, building commitment and ownership, and opening new possibilities for ideas and actions. Leadership also includes acknowledging change as a constant in life, and becoming a change leader skilled in transforming yourself and leading others to continuously re-align themselves in accordance with the evolving mission and goals of your organization.

Leadership cannot be separated from the environment in which you work – it must be defined in terms of the context of the whole organization. Our coaches/consultants understand the dynamics of organizations and how the culture impacts leaders and influences their actions. We incorporate this understanding in the learning plans and coaching conversations, focusing on organizational variables, levers, obstacles, and opportunities that influence individuals and their choices. We also assist our clients in creating a "support system" that includes others who can provide modeling and guidance for behavior change.

Targeted key developmental experiences may include:

Being a Change Leader
Leading People
Developing Highly Effective Teams
Managing People
Developing People
Planning and Coaching for Outstanding Performance
Giving Performance Feedback
Being a Powerful Communicator
Managing Projects/Work
Networking
Managing Stress & Work/Life Balance
Caring for the Customer

Learning

We view Learning as a system, an ongoing process of change, a series of experiences that reinforce each other, rather than as one event such as a training session. Another way that we look at Learning is to think of it as mastery. Achieving leadership mastery is a matter of awareness and choice, in other words, achieving greater awareness of yourself and others in ways that will enable you to make new and better choices, to shift who you are as a leader for others, to act in the world in ways you haven’t chosen before.

How do we incorporate these principles into how we organize your ALL learning experience? We often start with a learning module in which you learn a few critical distinctions and receive a powerful new model for leading. You then practice this model along with new behaviors. After this practice, you create a plan for applying new learning to leadership challenges you face back on the job.

You are guided along your learning path by a professional coach who is highly experienced and skilled. He or she works with you to design your path, introducing focus and clarity into your learning plan. In this way, you understand the specific skills and behaviors you plan to change. The coach assists you in tracking your progress and using the feedback you receive as you move along the path toward your goal of being a more powerful and effective leader.
